I recently took on a client that needed a completely furnished space done in 5 days. Well, Technically 3 furnished spaces in 5 days... (insert deep breath!) For me this was an interesting project as It was an opportunity to get really creative in a short amount of time and on a low fixed budget. It felt like I was looking all over God's green earth to source the right pieces to accommodate the desired contemporary but transitional look.
With most of my styling and design projects I have to get things done in a very short amount of time. I am accustomed to working quickly and shopping fast! Even though this was a whirlwind for me, I had a great time scouring for pieces that would emulate luxury without the cost. There are definitely pieces out there that show how well they are made, in both a good and a bad way. As time was a challenge, availability and delivery were the top considerations. I had to grab what I could at large retailers, and scavenger around for the rest. The great thing is that most of these items are from places that you most likely frequent and then some items where one of a kind pieces from local shops only here in Nashville. The room shown below was comprised of almost all items from a mass retailer.

MY FAVORITE PIECE THAT I FOUND FOR THIS SPACE WAS THE ASTIN ACCENT CHAIR (SHOWN ABOVE) FROM AMERICAN SIGNATURE. THIS CHAIR HAS SUCH CLEAN LINES, & IS SUCH A STEAL OF A PRICE ($299, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!) THIS CHAIR LOOKS SO MUCH MORE TO ME THAN THE COST. I HAVE SINCE USED IT IN OTHER SPACES AND IT WORKS JUST AS BEAUTIFULLY!
WHILE THERE WERE NOT ANY VERY HIGH TICKET ITEMS IN THIS ROOM, THE BIGGEST TIP THAT I CAN OFFER IS TO MIX IT UP! IT IS MY CONSTANT MANTRA IN BOTH MY PERSONAL STYLE AS WELL AS AT MY HOUSE AND IN ANY PROJECT THAT I WORK ON. IT IS NOT ONLY ECONOMICAL, BUT IT ALLOWS THOSE LESS EXPENSIVE PIECES TO BLEND RIGHT IN. MIXING ALSO LETS US GET A LITTLE CREATIVE! HAVE FUN SCOURING FOR YOUR NEXT DESIGN PROJECT AND MAYBE TAKE A LOOK AT PLACES YOU WOULDN'T NORMALLY GO, YOU MAY JUST FIND AN UNSUSPECTING TREASURE!
